Funding for Health & Safety Training

I am working with some of our funding partners to arrange funding for training that is required by companies  hoping to up skill the workforce. Some of the training they hope to do includes  Safety Statement Workshops, Risk Assessments, First Aid (Occupational), Fire Safety (Focus on Fire Warden) Safety Rep.

Funding is available to a private company or self employed person. The level of funding varies and T&C apply.

Today we have a Manual Handling course running in Roscommon with Gerard for a bakery who employee just over 30 people.

This evening the first evening of a Pediatric First Aid Course for a play school in Longford.

James is also here in the office working on updating a Safety Statement for a plumber who requires a updated draft as part of a tender.

I am trying to clear the back log of filing that need to be done.

Final day of a 3 day Occupationl First Aid  ( FETAC Level 5) Course delivered by Gerard to a Multi National company. Written exam this morning and after lunch practical exams. Gerard will be joined today by Pat who is acting as external examiner.

It’s cold outside!!!

Cold out side but nice and warm here in the office. Raining all morning and finally a little bit of blue in the sky.

James is busy working on a noise survey for a company applying for for planning permission. Gerard is training today. First day of a FETAC level 5 (3 Day) Occupational First Aid Course for a multi national company who have over 300 employees.  This will be the first time we have worked with this company but back again next week to provide 4 Manual handling courses.

What is work related asthma?

Work related asthma accounts for about 10% of all adult onset asthma. Asthma related to the workplace can be categorised into 2 distinct subsets:

  • Work aggravated asthma
  • Occupational asthma

Work Aggravated Asthma

Persons with work aggravated asthma usually have a history of pre-existing asthma.

Occupational Asthma

Occupational asthma is caused as a direct result of workplace exposure. There are 2 forms of occupational asthma:

  • Irritant Induced Occupational Asthma
  • Irritant Induced Occupational Asthma

Bullying in the workplace

Bullying in the workplace has been described in various ways.  The Health and Safety Authority’s definition is that it is:

“repeated inappropriate behaviour, direct or indirect, whether verbal, physical or otherwise, conducted by one or more persons against another or others, at the place of work and/or in the course of employment, which could reasonably be regarded as undermining the individual‘s right to dignity at work.”
